Introduction to LFT Modeling




During the past two decades Linear Fractional Transformations (LFTs)  have been widely used in  control theory. This framework is indeed useful not only for robust control design and robustness analysis but also for nonlinear control design and analysis. In this course it is first shown how LFT or LFR objects can be viewed as straightforward generalizations of the basic notions of linear state-space representations  or transfer functions. Next, the notion of minimality is discussed and computational tools are introduced with illustrative examples.
